INDEPENDENT BOOKSHOP WEEK 2026

Independent Bookshop Week is coming, and we have lots of exciting things happening in our bookshop to celebrate, from events to exclusives!
EVENTS: (all free)
On Friday 12th, Amy Rigby will be coming to Queen Margaret Hall at 7pm, not only to talk about her newest memoir and how she started off as a punk in New York in the 1980s, but also to play music for us!
On Wednesday 17th, DV Bishop will be at our bookshop for an informal chat about his newest Cesare Aldo book, alongside some (free!) wine and nibbles - this will run from 6pm-8pm!
On Friday 19th, we will be doing a special hour-long storytelling event to celebrate Bunnies in a Bookshop at 2pm! We will be reading the adorable 'Bunnies in a Rocket' book, and will have some very fun craft activities to get stuck into as well!
EXCLUSIVE EDITIONS AND SIGNED COPIES:
We have a wide array of exclusive editions and signed copies of different books by your favourite authors, from Matt Haig's new 'The Midnight Train' to Douglas Stuart's 'John of John' which even comes with some extra goodies like a tote bag and postcard, and many, many more!
We've also got a great offer: 2 picture books for £10, on selected titles - perfect for summer holidays!
And, thanks to National Book Tokens, we will be handing out £5 book tokens with every purchase while stocks last!
DRAWING COMPETITIONS FOR CHILDREN:
We will be holding a drawing competition for older children who are fans of Katherine Rundell's 'Impossible Creatures' series! We will be handing out drawing sheets for you to draw your very own mythical creature, and every participant that returns a completed entry will get an activity pack in return! In addition, the top 5 artists will receive a pack of 'Impossible Creatures' trading cards, and the overall favourite will receive Book 1 and Book 2 for free, as well as Book 3 when it releases in August!
For the younger children, we will also be doing a rocket drawing competition! Every participant will get an activity pack in return, and their rocket will go up on our space-themed window!
