Artist and creator Nicola Atkinson will signing copies of her book, Beautiful Materials, in the shop on Friday 4th July from 12 noon. Nicola’s exhibition can currently be enjoyed in the Linlithgow Burgh Halls, and you may have noticed her work on the bus stop outside The Four Marys as well! We look forward to welcoming Nicola to sign copies of her book, and to show us some of her prep work for the exhibition.

MEET POSTMAN BEAR!

Following the success of our family Gruffalo event last year, we’re thrilled to announce that Postman Bear from the popular Acorn Wood series will be visiting Linlithgow on 11th July!
Based around the stories created by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, this will be a great family event! Children will get the opportunity to meet Postman Bear and have their picture taken. There will be storytelling and craft activities as well.
All activities suitable for ages 3+. Adult supervision required at all times.

STITCH IT, DON'T DITCH IT with MARY MORTON and JEANNA WIGGER
MONDAY 4TH AUGUST, 7PM-9PM

Join us for an evening with authors Mary Morton and Jeanna Wigger, followed by a mending circle hosted by textile upcycling group ReFab!
Mastering the art of mending just requires a few simple sewing techniques which can extend the life of your wardrobe and your treasured clothing. Stitch it, Don’t Ditch It will guide you through the fundamentals of mending, from the kit you’ll need, how to tackle different types of repair to the core skills covering the common mends that will help you fix 90% of your clothes.
After hearing from the authors, you are invited to take part in a mending circle, where local textile upcycling group ReFab can help you repair your clothing, putting into practice many of the methods in the book. Bring an item of clothing with you that needs attention, and ReFab will work with you to make it fabulous again!

Kristie de Garis rebuilt her life after finding herself through learning the ancient art of dry stonewalling. This is a beautifully written account of one woman who refused to give up and instead found herself. Plus it's got a lot of tips on how to build a dry stone wall! Join us in St Peter's Church to celebrate the launch of this wonderful book on Wednesday 27th August at 7.00pm.
