Vivian Maeda, has been campaigning for a more inclusive society for many years. She is a great believer that awareness sessions, education, offering a space to talk about diversity are key towards achieving that.

After Vivian’s son Luca was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, she wanted to increase awareness of the condition, so she has written an e-book called My Name Is Luca which is now available to buy through our website

We hope this book helps with the conversation with children about Cerebral Palsy.

All funds raised from this book will be donated to Cerebral Palsy Scotland

It’s been a busy Book Week Scotland here at Far From The Madding Crowd with visits from two of our favourite authors: Alex T Smith and Alexander McCall Smith!

Alex T Smith is the author of our favourite festive books, including When Winston Delivered Christmas, The Grumpus and his latest, The Nutcracker. He stopped by to decorate our window, and we have lots of lovely signed copies of his books in stock now!

Alexander McCall Smith is one Scotland’s most prolific authors and following a wonderful evening listening to him in the stunning surroundings of St Michael’s Parish Church, we have lots of signed copies of his latest titles, including the 44 Scotland Street Cookbook and the 24th instalment of the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency!

Christmas sorted!

Our autumn event season has now finished, but we’re already looking ahead to January 2024!
